Athanasios Chassiakos

Professor Athanasios Chassiakos holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (Transportation Engineering) and both a Master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, USA. His doctoral work and related publications have earned prestigious awards.
He is Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Patras, and Director of the Laboratory for the Management of Engineering Projects, Infrastructure, and Cities. His work spans project and infrastructure management, smart cities and intelligent infrastructure, transportation systems, innovative pavement materials, and the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Digital Twins.
Research interests include life-cycle management of construction projects, ICT in construction and project management, safety in construction, advanced materials for highways, dynamic analysis of pavements under moving loads, optimization of systems, and risk management. He has authored books and numerous publications, delivered invited lectures at international conferences, and serves on editorial boards and scientific committees of major journals and conferences.
