Head Of New Substation Technologies Section, IPTO S.A. - ΑΔΜΗΕ Α.Ε

Konstantinos Leontaritis is the Head of the New HV-EHV Substations Technology Section at the Independent Power Transmission Operator of Greece (IPTO). With over 30 years of deep expertise in high-voltage power systems and utility-scale grid infrastructure, he is currently driving the digital and green transformation of Greece's electricity transmission network.
Since 2022, he has spearheaded research, strategic evaluation, and pilot implementation of cutting-edge grid solutions. His key initiatives include introducing BIM-based engineering and SF6-free GIS/AIS technologies. Notably, he was commissioned to draft the national technical and safety standards for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) integration.
Previously, as Head of the HV-EHV Substations Branch (2019–2022), he directed a division of 120 engineers executing Greece's transmission system expansion. His background also includes key roles at PPC S.A., ABB, and Schneider Electric. Over his distinguished career, he spearheaded the specialized technical specifications for the milestone Attica-Crete VSC HVDC Interconnection, drafted the comprehensive electrical specifications for the 811 MW Megalopolis CCGT Unit V, and designed critical distribution and protection schemes for the Revithoussa LNG Terminal.
He holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and is an active member of Cigre and IEEE.
