Prof. Dr. Cornelius Preidel

Cornelius Preidel is a Professor of Digital Construction and Building Informatics at Munich University of Applied Sciences, where he has been teaching and researching since 2022. His work focuses on data-driven methods, the management and use of building-related data, and the application of artificial intelligence to optimize processes across the entire building lifecycle.

Before moving into academia, he worked as a Product Manager at Finnish software company Solibri, where he played a key role in developing solutions for model checking and quality assurance in digital construction.

Since 2023, Professor Preidel serves as Chair of the Board of buildingSMART Germany. In 2024, he also took over the leadership of the Steering Committee for the Professional Certification Program at buildingSMART International. In both roles, he actively drives digital transformation and standardization in the built environment and is responsible for the global certification of digital competencies.
