Christoph Carl Eichler

Christoph Eichler is CEO of VIE Build GmbH, Asset Information Manager at Vienna International Airport and Chair of buildingSMART Austria. Trained as an architect, he has more than 15 years of experience in BIM, digitalisation and lifecycle information management, with a strong focus on complex buildings and infrastructure.

His work combines academic research, standardisation and practical implementation. At Vienna Airport, he is responsible for the strategic development of Asset Information Management and for the implementation of a Building Operation System connecting digital models with GIS, SAP/ERP, facility management, documentation and other operational systems through open and interoperable structures.
Christoph is actively involved in national and international openBIM standardisation and contributes to the development of BIM-related standards at Austrian Standards. He has participated in more than 50 research and innovation projects with institutions including TU Wien, TU Graz and AIT. He also lectures at TU Wien and is author and co-author of several professional publications on BIM and openBIM.
His current focus is on bridging research and industry practice and on developing open, reliable and lifecycle-ready information ecosystems for the built environment.
